Ashley will be leaving the freshmen and sophomores she's been teaching the past three years to tackle 8th grade language arts in the fall. She will be moving just across the parking lot from West Noble High Schoolto West Noble Middle School. (As a Noble county native, she teaches close to home!)

Ashley received her BA in English Education, with a TESOL minor, from Manchester College. She came to AWP at the urging of her friend, Candace, who attended the National Writing Project program IU South Bend. She worked through Americorps with a literacy program in Wabash county and tutored through LEAP of Noble County.

As a writing teacher, Ashley worries about balancing authentic writing with ISTEP requirements. As writer herself, Ashley uses writing for self-expression & reflection. Her belief in herself as a writer came early. She dictated a book about monsters and mummies to her parents at the age of four. Now, she tends to write mostly poetry and prose. She is an avid reader. Everything from John Steinbeck to Willa Cather to Gregory Maguire. Particularly, she loves any writer who plays around with perspective and parallel stories.
