  • I teach second grade at Waynedale Elementary.
  • Where are you from? I am from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
  • Where do you teach? I teach in Fort Wayne, Indiana with Fort Wayne Community Schools.
  • How did you come to be at AWP? It was suggested to me by two colleagues.
  • What are your experiences in education? I taught two years in the inner city teaching third grade. My remaining experience has been with second graders. I have taught for 22 years.
  • What are your concerns about teaching writing? Learning how to help the struggling writer is my biggest concern.

  • What inspired you to write? I am inspired to write from my own personal life experiences.
  • How do you view writing as a professional in education? It is a way to communicate my thoughts and concerns to colleagues and parents.
  • How do you use writing in your life? I use writing to communicate with others and to share my thoughts and feelings.
  • What genres do you like to write in? My favorites are refelctive writing and poems.
  • When did you first think of yourself as a writer? When I was in middle school, I kept a diary which started me on my journey to writing.
  • What writers do you like to read? I enjoy reading Chuck Swindoll and Nora Roberts
